EXIF inspection and verified cleaning

View and remove image metadata

A photo can reveal a place, date, device, or author. This tool presents readable information by category, creates a locally re-encoded copy, and verifies that known metadata containers are gone.

Private-data verification covers EXIF, XMP, IPTC, comment, and provenance containers. ICC describes color and is reported separately. This is not an anonymization guarantee against future or proprietary formats.

Readable inventory

Coordinates, device data, capture settings, rights, and color profiles are separated instead of shown as an unstructured dump.

Orientation applied

The copy is rendered with its visual orientation before EXIF information is removed.

Post-cleaning check

The output file is inspected again before the interface displays a verification state.

How to inspect and remove image metadata

  1. 01

    Inspect the file

Add a JPEG, PNG, or WebP image. Its data stays inside the browser tab.

  2. 02

    Review the categories

Prioritize location, serial numbers, dates, author data, and provenance information.

  3. 03

    Clean and verify

Create a new copy and treat it as cleaned only when the final check reports no known container.

An honest check, not an absolute guarantee

  • Re-encoding can slightly alter JPEG or WebP pixels, even at high quality.
  • Re-encoding can replace the original ICC profile with a standard profile and change rendering in some professional workflows.
  • Future or proprietary formats may embed data this tool cannot yet identify. A verified state applies only to explicitly checked containers.
